I understand that price is a big concern and hopefully we can find something in her price range that meets her need. Obviously, the best way to determine this is to speak. We work with senior assisted living and although your mother in law is not yet a senior any community can receive a waiver for her. I have to tell you, however, that true senior assisted living is very expensive. It is not like low income senior apartments. Base fee covers apartment, all three meals, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, activities and all utilities except for the phone. Medication management is available but it comes at an additional cost. The lowest we find for a private studio apartment in Orange Count is about $1800.00 for the base fee and then med management would be on top of that (probably around $200.00 per month).

The average age of people going to senior assisted living here in orange county is around 80 years old. I am not sure this is appropriate for your mother in law even though they are active warm places. The average age at a traditional, non assisted living, senior apartment is way younger, and although you do not get all of the add-ons the price would be way less. We do not work with these senior apartments as they are not covered by the same legislation and regulations as assisted living. You could probably find these in the phone book or a quick internet search.

Last time we spoke she was doing pretty well at a home that was a little farther away than ideal.
